Abdominal Do’s and Don’ts

Abdominal MythsIn today’s world everyone wants that sleek sexy stomach for the beach season. Walk into your neighborhood gym and you’ll find a dozen people laying on the floor doing and endless crunches, sit ups and oblique exercises. Little do they know they are waisting their time! This post will focus on the myths that surround abdominal exercises and what you can do to properly train to reveal those abs for the beach!

Doing crunches, sit ups, and oblique twists will reveal your abdominal muscles.

These exercises will in fact work your abdominal muscles but the real issue is getting rid of the layer of fat that is covering them. You could have all the abdominal muscles you want but if there is a layer of fat above them no one is going to see them! If you really want to show your abdominal muscles for the beach season you have to follow these 2 simple abdominal principles.

1. Add a level of cardio into your workout routine. Yes you heard me cardio! Cardio will cause your body to start to consume the fat it has stored around your abdominal muscles. Once this layer of fat starts to disappear the abdominal muscles that you already have will start to shine through. You probably already have abdominal muscles, you just can’t see them yet.

2. Eat Right! Some have said its a 60/40 split. 60% is your diet, 40% is your workout. Yes it really could be that easy you could revel your abdominal muscles just by eating the right foods. Stay away from those sugary drinks, high-fat, high-carb and pre-packaged foods. Focus on eating healthy with meats, vegetables, nuts, fruits and whole grains. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring you can add various spices and flavors into your meals. Go ahead Google “Healthy Meals” and you’ll find plenty of ideas. And this should go without saying… Stay away from fast food! There is no such thing as “Healthy Fast Food”.

So what are you waiting for, get into that gym and amp up the cardio and when you get home make your self a healthy balanced meal and watch your abs reveal themselves!

why does it take so long to lose fat around the stomache area

Its just a hard area to target. A lot of people think that doing endless amounts of situps will reveal their abdominals.. The truth of the matter is that you could reveal your abs without a single situp. Really it comes down to a healthy diet and cardio to burn fat all over the body. Of course weight training wouldn’t hurt either because it will increase the size of the muscles underneath the fat.. but until you eliminate the fat covering them… no amount of situps will reveal them.
