Workout Motivation 5 Tips

guy.jpg1. Pace yourself
So you have decided to get your butt to the gym? Thats great news! Now we just have to make sure it keeps going even on those days when you just don’t feel like it. So start slow, work into the habit of going don’t try and go all out the first week only to quit the 2nd. All to often there is the “January Effect” when we see all the new comers with their new years resolutions only come February they have all disappeared never to be seen again until next January.

2. Get a Gym Partner
Get a buddy to partner up and hit the gym with you. This way when you don’t want to go hopefully they will motivate you and when they don’t want to go you can be there to motivate you.

3. Set Some Short-term Goals
Long term goals are too easy to quit . Set some short-term goals like being able to run for an extra 5 minutes, or be able to crank out an extra set of a difficult exercise. Once you reach your goal turn right around and set another one. It becomes addictive and feeds upon itself the more goals you reach the more you’ll want to go!

4. Before and After Picture
So you have been going to the gym for several months and really just don’t feel like you are making any progress? That can be a real motivation killer. What you may not realize is all the progress you ARE making. Take a before picture and then a few months later when you are feeling unmotivated take another picture in the same clothes / setting / lighting. The difference will shock you and push you to keep working out!

5. Change Up Your Workout
Going to the gym can be a real chore and if your workout is the same day in and day out it can get really boring as well as lose its effectiveness. So Change it up! Check out the BeachBody Tips workouts to the right or visit bodybuilding.com they have a large database of workouts for all types of people and all types of goals.
