24Hour Fitness Carlsbad, CA Gym Review
For the month of February I went on a 5 week vacation to Carlsbad CA for a little rest and relaxation mixed in with some golf. While there my first order of business was to find a gym that I could work out in that was affordable and also close by.
There were several gyms that I found and for a 5 week pass the prices ranged from $50 to $150. $150 was a little expensive for me but then I found 24 Hour fitness in Carlsbad CA. The great news was that it was only 3 miles from the house we were renting and for 5 weeks the trainer set me up with a $50 dollar bill… Not bad!
The gym itself is almost brand new only several months old. All the equipment was brand new, clean the locker rooms were gorgeous and the staff was all extremely friendly.
Now this gym isn’t exactly like the gym I go to at home. My home gym is more of a basement, dingy real down to earth kind of gym. This gym certainly had the “new age” gym feel. A lot of people wandering around looking like they had no idea what the heck they were doing. There was no real muscle heads here everyone looked pretty normal. The music wasn’t really that great and I always ended up bringing my ipod. Another downside (IMHO) is that all the weights were rubber wrapped. It was like working out in a library! The sound of metal weights clinking together on the bench press and what not is a real psychological booster and this gym had none of that.
Over all I think the gym was great the price was affordable and the quality was great it just didn’t have that old school dingy gym feel that I kinda like.
