The snow is melting and the Spring weather will soon be upon us. Not before long, Summer will be poking out it’s sunny head and sheer clothing, shorts and bikini’s will be among the clothing of choice for many.
Who can ignore the cute shorts and skirts teasing us on store racks ready to wear for the warmer weather? Nevertheless, before embarking on that summer shopping spree, focus first on the body that will be wearing your new clothes! Here are some simple every day tips to get your body “beach babe” ready.
Get fit AND help the environment!
Make like the growing plants in your backyard and go green! Leave your car at home and walk or bike wherever and whenever you can. Help reduce emissions and save money on the ever growing price of gas. Walking at a moderate pace for 30 – 60 minutes a day can burn an easy 300 – 600 calories!
Drink your fluids!
As the weather gets warmer, reach for some water and stay away from the alcohol. Proper hydration will help flush out any impurities in your body, revealing a healthier complexion and it will also help lower snack cravings. Alcohol however will dehydrate you, cause you to get the munchies and can add anywhere from 200 – 400 additional calories per drink to your diet!
Enjoy the Heat
Turn off the air conditioner and enjoy the hot weather. Heat can reduce your appetite and cause you to eat smaller portions throughout the day, avoiding those neighborhood barbecue binges.
Do your Chores!
Think of household ‘chores’ in a different light and pick up that lawnmower, plant the flowers and trim the bushes. Each ‘chore’ has its own cardio benefit and giving you that summer glow at the same time.
Changes can be made simply by taking advantage of the beautiful summer weather Mother Nature will give us. Be confident, get out that new bikini and enjoy the sun!
